We need the right person to be our new Electronics/Specials Engineering Technician.
Job Summary:
To design, develop, machine, assemble & test new and existing OTS products to meet customer’s specific needs, requirements for special orders, and engineering projects.
Primary Duties:
- Create a cost analysis for proposed special orders and determine lead time for the build or modification
- Determine whether a customer’s design or functionality request is possible
- Create and / or provide technical drawings for special orders and fixtures when requested
- Determine and source for parts and materials needed for special builds
- Generate schematics, bill of materials, machine and assembly drawings, labels, artwork, and instructions when applicable
- Serialize products using inscriber & maintain serial number log
- Machine / fabricate any necessary custom parts using manual mill, lathe, band saw, and drill press.
- Ensure product quality, reliability, and safety in all aspects of production from engineering to assembly.
- Provide technical support to other departments and customers
- Manage and communicate weekly progress report
- Communicate any delay exceeding the communicated due date to applicable parties
- Communicate to all interpersonal departments, management, and customers using proper business etiquette in a timely matter
- Layout, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.
- Performs and documents tests
- Supports projects as assigned by Engineering Management
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of materials including adhesives, plastics, and metals is ideal.
- Ability to solder and use hand tools.
- Must have analog audio knowledge and the ability to download programs into microprocessors.
- Must be able to read and understand schematics.
- Customer service and communication skills.
- Have the ability to machine with manual machines.
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot at the component level of digital analog circuit boards.
- Ability to create design documentation and work independently. Knowledge of Microsoft office programs including Outlook and Excel.
- Draftsight, Autocad, and Syteline experience ideal.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and order due dates.
- Build, repair, and improve electromechanical test equipment
- Build, repair, and improve production fixtures
- Must be able to test, inspect, and troubleshoot electronic circuitries by the use of test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and digital multi-meter.
- 3D modeling utilizing Solidworks is a plus
- Must have electronics knowledge and experience
Education and Experience:
Minimum of five years as an Engineering Technician or a Junior Engineer. Senior Electronic Technician experience ideal.
Project Management experience helpful.
Work Schedule:
FLEXIBLE! The candidate may choose a typical 10/80 schedule or a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.
Physical Demands:
Lifting, carrying, and walking occasionally. Sitting for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
Exposed to noise, solvents, adhesives, fumes, and odors that may affect the nose.
