Safety Notice — [PowerCom 3000D, PowerCom 5000D, MilCom 6000D, MilCom 6000H]

Summary

OTS has received three reports of electric shock, each occurring under the same combination of conditions: the unit’s connector was not correctly connected, moisture was present on the user’s skin, the user was in contact with the microphone’s contact screws, and the push-to-talk (PTT) button was activated. In our testing, the maximum voltage observed was up to 16 volts in the described conditions. No injuries have been reported.

Connecting the unit correctly, as described in this Safety Bulletin and in the product manual, addresses this condition and eliminates the risk of shock.

PowerCom and MilCom Post Dive Procedures Technical Information

ATTENTION : READ BEFORE DIVING

Post Dive Procedure:

  1. Rinse the unit in freshwater for several minutes or until the unit is clean. A mild soap solution may be used to remove contaminants and after cleansing, rinse with freshwater. Failure to do so can cause the unit to turn on and off improperly.
  2. Dry the transceiver with a clean towel, especially around the area of the water switch posts. This will ensure the unit will shut off. Failure to do so will drain the battery. Note: The unit may take a few minutes to turn off; this is normal.
  3. Routinely clean the water switch posts with soft brush to remove any contaminants or oxidation in this area.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES MAY RESULT IN UNIT NOT TURNING OFF OR TURNING ON PROPERLY.
